About me

Individual and Couples Counselling

There are perhaps several reasons why you have decided to approach a counsellor. It may be that you wish to resolve something which is troubling you or you may be undergoing some kind of emotional crisis or trauma. It may simply be that you wish to develop more awareness regarding your situation.

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor working in Stroud. I see individuals, students, young people from age 15 upwards, adopters and foster carers. I can provide a confidential service within a safe space in an environment of trust and respect to listen and to help you explore your feelings.

Psychodynamic counselling will give you the opportunity to explore your difficulties and to gain some insight into what is happening. We can consider ways you can move forward in your life by making changes rather than by me giving you advice or telling you what to do.

I can offer counselling to individuals and couples who are adopters or foster carers. You may be encountering difficulties due to a range of issues - from conflicts which arise in relationships when a complex child is in a foster placement or has been adopted to the turmoil that may result from a placement or adoption disruption.

In addition to my private practice with individuals, students, young people from age 15 upwards, adopters and foster carers I have been seeing students with various issues at a University for the last three years. Some of my past work as a counsellor has been in secondary schools.

Prior to my career as a counsellor I worked for thirty years as a social worker with adults, young people and children and families within a variety of settings.Through this work I have developed specialist knowledge of pregnancy and childbirth as well as in-depth knowledge about the impact of attachment issues on relationships.

I have worked for the Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS), which is affiliated to the Westminster Pastoral Foundation, for several years as a counsellor.  I have subsequently undertaken a post-graduate training, a couples training and a time-limited therapy training at GCS in addition to a course in Mindfulness.

During our first meeting we can look at your main concerns and we can then consider how to proceed from there.

I offer counselling in Stroud. My practice is a fifteen-minute walk from Stroud town centre.  Parking is also available at my location if arriving by car.

I am a registered practitioner with WPA Health Insurance, PruHealth and Aviva.
