There are times when our problems and concerns can feel overwhelming. This can result from a difficult situation or experience in the present, or issues from the past which still have the power to affect us. Sometimes we just need space to reflect on our lives and make sense of the choices we make and the challenges we face. I am a professional accredited counsellor who can offer you a confidential, non judgmental and safe space in which to explore your concerns.
I have run a private practice and worked within GP surgeries and schools over the last 10 years. I have experience of working with teenagers, young adults and adults up to the age of 95 from a wide range of backgrounds; cultural and religious.
The areas I generally work with include anxiety, depression, panic attacks, loss, relationship problems, separation and divorce, family issues (including parenting issues), separation anxiety, postnatal depression, transitional issues such as redundancy, ageing and retirement, bereavement, trauma, anger, autism, bullying, abuse, self harm, low self-esteem, low self confidence, and stress.
I use knowledge of a range to approaches including psychodynamic, person centred and attachment theories to inform my practice. I also draw on my experience of transactional analysis and mindfulness. It is important to me that you will feel safe, comfortable and able to trust me.
We can work together on a short or long term basis and this can be discussed at the initial assessment. The assessment offers you an opportunity to experience a counselling session and determine whether you will find counselling useful. There is no obligation to continue seeing me after this session.
As an accredited member of the BACP I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.
