Lead Therapist: Anne Duncan, BA, BA (Hons), PGCCE, Dip. CBT. MBABCP, PM Cosca

A qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist I have many years experience offering support tailored to the needs of the individual.

How do I work?

I will work collaboratively with you to explore your issue. We will formulate and action a plan to address your distress. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) explores the interplay of thoughts, feelings (both physical and emotional) and behaviour. I will introduce tools and strategies and support you to use, practise and master these. You will learn how to cope with your difficulties thereby enhancing your life.

What can I do?

I have extensive experience with Depression, Anxiety and Anxiety related disorders. This includes Social Anxiety, Driving Anxiety, Phobias, OCD and PTSD.

For many years I have supported and provided therapy for survivors of childhood sexual abuse or those who have been, or still are, exposed to sexual exploitation. Support is how you want it and if that is to be listened to and heard in a safe space that is what you will have.

If you have a chronic health condition or relationship issues I can help you develop strategies to manage these.

CBT has tried, tested and effective methods for managing sleep problems. Whether it is getting to, and staying, asleep or sleeping too much and not being able to get out of bed you can manage change with my support.

I have supported many clients with the development of social skills including, confidence, self esteem and assertiveness.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for a discussion and my suggestions of how we can work together to best meet your needs.

What is a session like?

Sessions last 50 minutes.  The initial session will be about us getting to know each other, gathering information about what is going on for you, clarifying what you want from therapy and agreeing how we are going to work together.

The number of sessions depends on you and what is causing you distress.  The minimum would usually be 4 and if you require more we will review your progress towards your goals every 4 sessions.

Further information.

As a qualified, accredited and practising trainer of counsellors and psychotherapists I am fully up to date with current research and treatment interventions.

My particular interests areas include the effects of childhood trauma on how we function as adults and anxiety in all its shapes and forms. My clients have made helpful changes in their lives working with me on depression and anxiety related issues.

I have been a counsellor and therapist for 10 years and  have over 20 years experience of working therapeutically with young people. I have a current PVG and I am happy to offer support to adults and adolescents. I see clients in Ayrshire and Glasgow.
