Anne Briard, Art Therapist
I am a fully qualified and experienced Art Therapist based in Haringey, North London.
Since 2003, I have offered Art Therapy to women, children, adolescents and their families.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked as an Art Therapist for organisations such as Women’s Aid, NHS CAMHS School Therapy Services and the Prison Service.
Art Therapy can be beneficial for both adults and children. Through art making, play and talking, the child/young person and therapist work together to make sense of the child’s difficulties and offer a safe and contained space where thoughts and feelings can be expressed.
The good thing about Art Therapy is that no previous experience or art skills are needed. It can perhaps feel intimidating at first but making art in the sessions can be pleasurable and help to give shape to feelings and experiences which are otherwise difficult to access or to describe with words. Sometimes there are too many words and art can help to find what is important.
