How I work
Irrespective of the models of therapy I draw on, what I consider most important is the strength and depth of the relationship we will form, where you feel safe and supported enough to look at the perhaps difficult, painful, frightening or shame-filled experiences that trouble you.
I offer support and encouragement through what can be difficult times, by sitting alongside you as you begin to make changes.
I know it can be difficult to take those first steps into starting counselling so if it helps I offer you a free 15 minute telephone call where we can get a sense each other and what it might be like to work together. We can talk a little bit about what you want to get out of counselling and what your questions are at this stage.
If at that stage you want to make an initial appointment I can usually see you within a week.
If you would rather make contact by text or e mail then I can offer an initial appointment this way and look forward to meeting you on the day. Either text me on 07968 797004 or click the e-mail link on this page.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling from Roehampton University and an Advanced Post Graduate qualification (RELATE linked) in Couple Counselling and Systemic Family Therapy from Hull University.
I am qualified to Post Graduate level, have a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy – counselling that uses the appropriate response to what you bring to counselling, and a Post Grad qualification in working systemically with couples. I am also a fully qualified EMDR therapist specialising in working with trauma.
What does all this mean? You can be sure that I have studied hard to be able to offer a friendly yet professional counselling service to individuals, couples of all orientations, and families with difficulties emerging in relationships. I have worked in many arenas with clients of different levels of problems and able to offer as helpful a therapeutic intervention as you would expect from any therapist.
In short, I have long experience in working with clients at all levels and offer a full, evidence based couples, family and individual counselling and psychotherapy service.
