Anne Ashton, MBACP (Accredited), Counsellor and Supervisor
I tailor my service to suit the needs of my clients and have a wide range of training and experience so can offer a variety of approaches to ensure that you are treated as an individual and can flourish and resolve any difficulties you bring to counselling.
My priority is that clients feel heard and respected and during counselling sessions you will be able to share your thoughts and feelings in the safety of a confidential environment. We will work together to unravel the root of the problems you are bringing and my intention is that you gradually gain a sense of understanding, power and purpose. This will help you to make the changes you want to make with confidence - and to move towards a more relaxed positive and happier way of living as a result.
I also work with couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship and this work involves partners improving their understanding of each other, dealing with communication difficulties, learning how to get needs met and healing emotional wounds.
In addition I offer supervision to experienced counsellors and students in training. Please see my supervisor profile for further information.
I offer a no fee, no obligation 30 minute meeting to individuals, couples and prospective supervisees so that you have the chance to meet me to gauge whether you will feel comfortable working with me. This also gives me the chance to hear about the issues you want to bring to counselling or learn about your supervisory needs.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified and professional counsellor/psychotherapist with a total of 19 years of experience in private practice in Newton Abbot. I am also a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My counselling training was inspired by my experience of working as a Samaritan in the 1970's. I went on to qualify in counselling skills which I used in my work with young people and those experiencing bereavement. in the 80's I trained doctors and nurses to deal with death and dying on the hospital wards.
After working in mental health, I completed a further Diploma in Individual and Relationship counselling in 1994 and have been in private practice as a counsellor in Newton Abbot since 1999. I qualified as a supervisor in 1997. I now work as a counsellor, supervisor, tutor and life coach and am based at a clinic in the centre of Newton Abbot. I see clients during the daytime and early evening.
