About me
I work psychoanalytically which involves paying particular attention to the words used when describing one’s life and dreams; speech can reveal unconscious ideas, processes and drives. I start from the basis that each individual has developed their own unique response to their particular upbringing and the circumstances of their life.
Talking to someone and being fully listened to, without being judged, can be the start of a process of understanding, developing strategies and solutions and coming to terms with difficult and traumatic experiences or shifting and transforming debilitating symptoms.
Life can become extremely difficult: things may seem overwhelming and out of control following a recent event or trauma; possibly something from your past has returned to worry you; or you realise that you need to finally tackle symptoms you have been suffering with for a long time; perhaps you need to make an important decision and can’t think how to do so; or maybe you are plagued with anxiety or unhappy but with no clear idea as to why.
The setting provides a calm, confidential and safe space to speak about things which might never have been spoken of before.
You are invited to have an initial telephone consultation so we can see whether working together would be right for you. The frequency of sessions is agreed on an individual basis and can be varied over time to take account of circumstance and necessity. We might meet once or twice a week, sometimes more frequently.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
