I currently work as a psychological therapist with a local NHS psychological therapies team. I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and have been practising CBT for 20 years. I am also trained in EMDR which is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms of emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. You can find out more about EMDR by visiting the EMDR website.
I see people for private psychotherapy in a safe and comfortable therapy space.
I have a current clear DBS certificate and I am insured and have regular clinical supervision.
Training, qualifications & experience
BSc; Post Graduate Diploma in CBT. EMDR trained. British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) accredited.
I qualified as a mental health nurse in 1987 and have worked in the field of mental health and psychological therapies my whole career, always in the employ of the NHS. I completed my CBT training with the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre in 1999 and was awarded a postgraduate diploma in CBT. I completed my EMDR training in 2007.
I am fully accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies which is the lead organisation for CBT in the UK and Ireland. The BABCP promotes, improves and upholds standards of CBT practice, supervision and training.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists.
BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
