Anna Miles MBACP (Accred)
I have a holistic and flexible approach to counselling. As an experienced professional my passion is to support you through any difficulties you’re facing and help you explore your concerns in a non-judgemental way. Life can present us with many challenges including painful losses and times of anxiety or depression as well as all kinds of stressful or traumatic experiences that leave us lacking confidence or resilience. At these times that extra support from the right person can make all the difference. Since I know how important it is to work with someone you feel comfortable with I offer an initial session of 45mins for £10.
Before training as a counsellor I worked as a physiotherapist for 15 years which has led me to believe our body, mind and spirit are all interconnected. We often recognise the power of our minds and thoughts but our bodies are important as they hold our emotions and memories and our spirits help us find meaning and purpose in life. So please know that your “whole self” will be welcome in sessions if that is meaningful for you.
What I offer:
I work with individuals in a flexible way that is based on your needs and hence counselling can be short or longer term. I will provide you with a space to talk things through and to focus on what is important to you. That may mean looking at choices and coping strategies to resolve or manage a current situation or you may want to focus on understanding how things in the past might still be affecting you today. Whatever your concerns are we will work together to help you develop a greater sense of freedom and satisfaction in life.
For those who are interested in knowing more my way of working is Integrative which means I draw on a number of different counselling approaches, especially the person centred, psychodynamic and CBT approaches. I also draw on recent insights from neuroscience that help in understanding the impact of trauma and am trained in mindfulness, including Christian mindfulness.
I have a range of daytime or evening appointments available so please feel free to call or email me if you would like to know more.
