Anna Miles MBACP (Accred)
I have a holistic and flexible approach to counselling. As an experienced professional my passion is to support you through any difficulties you’re facing and help you explore your concerns in a non-judgemental way. Life can present us with many challenges including painful losses and times of anxiety or depression as well as stressful or traumatic experiences that leave us lacking confidence or resilience. At these times that extra support from the right person can make all the difference. Since I know how important it is to work with someone you feel comfortable with I offer an initial session of 45mins for £10.
Before training as a counsellor I worked as a physiotherapist for 15 years which has led me to believe our body, mind and spirit are all interconnected. We often recognise the power of our minds and thoughts but our bodies are important as they hold our emotions and memories and our spirits help us find meaning and purpose in life. So please know that your “whole self” will be welcome in sessions if that is meaningful for you.
What I offer:
I work with individuals in a flexible way that is based on your needs and hence counselling can be short or longer term. I will provide you with a space to talk things through and to focus on what is important to you. That may mean looking at choices and coping strategies to resolve or manage a current situation or you may want to focus on understanding how things in the past might still be affecting you today. Whatever your concerns are we will work together to help you develop a greater sense of freedom and satisfaction in life.
For those who are interested in knowing more my way of working is Integrative which means I draw on a number of different counselling approaches, especially the person centred, psychodynamic and CBT approaches. I also draw on recent insights from neuroscience that help in understanding the impact of trauma and am trained in mindfulness, including Christian mindfulness.
I have a range of daytime or evening appointments available so please feel free to call or email me if you would like to know more.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
As an Accredited member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I work within their Ethical Framework.
I have 13 years experience as a counsellor and have had the privilege to work for 8 years as a counselling trainer.
I am continually updating my skills and knowledge by attending workshops and seminars and my learning from these enhances my practise on an ongoing basis.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
