About me
Firstly I'd like to begin by saying that you don't need any experience of making art to benefit from art therapy - everybody possesses creativity, and art therapy can be a way to tap into complex feelings and situations which we can then begin to process through art making and talking.
Creativity can be a portal into the unconscious and can help form thoughts and words which have previously been inaccessible. This in turn can be the beginning of you gaining greater insight into yourself and better navigating difficult periods and transitions in life. Art therapy is a professionally regulated practice that integrates psychotherapy alongside creative expression and art-making as a means of communication. Art therapy is appropriate for all ages and stages of life, and is suitable for all levels and styles of communication.
I have over ten years of experience working in the NHS in sexual health, oncology and palliative care. Prior to training as an art therapist, I worked as a nurse and freelance illustrator. I work in a non-directive and person-centred way, holding your unique experience in mind whilst also thinking about socio-economic and cultural contexts. Through my life and work experiences I have a unique understanding of the human condition and creativity, and offer an open, radical space where you can explore your internal and external worlds.
Training, qualifications & experience
I gained a Masters with distinction in Art Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths University in 2020
I have a Diploma in Adult Nursing from South Bank University
I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Illustration from University of Brighton

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
