How can therapy help?
There is no one reason why people enter therapy. The process can help you to explore difficult feelings such as anxiety or depression; the impact of trauma, abuse or neglect; or difficulties in your current or past relationships. I can work with you to do this. By creating a safe but challenging environment and a strong therapeutic relationship, we will work together to make sense of your past and current experiences. This deeper awareness and understanding can help to confront and shift difficult feelings and relationship patterns, and allow you to explore new ways of being, both as an individual and in relationships with others.
How do I work?
As an accredited integrative psychotherapist, I draw from various techniques and research, but I have a particular interest in the psychodynamic tradition, current relational neuroscience and CBT. I tailor my approach to the individual, and work with issues including depression, trauma, anxiety, bereavement, identity issues and relationship difficulties. I am BACP registered and also completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
What are the next steps?
Starting therapy can be a difficult and daunting experience, so it's important to choose a therapist you feel comfortable with. I offer a free initial phone consultation to discuss what you want to gain from therapy and to explore how I can support you. If we both feel we are a 'good fit', we can then meet in person to discuss things further. Please note I offer a sliding scale for those on a limited income.
