Anna Bassett BA (hons) MBACP
I run a flexible service for adults, children and adolescents. If you have difficult issues that are preventing you from being fully engaged with life then counselling can help. Loss takes many forms and, if unresolved, can lead to anxiety, depression, anger or lack of self-esteem.
I can provide you with support as you learn to navigate ways of solving problems, improving relationships or changing patterns of behaviour.
There may be a particular issue that is distressing you or you may feel stuck or confused. Having the space and opportunity to explore this in counselling gives you the chance to look at a problem from a different point of view and allows the time needed to negotiate a solution.
Counselling gives you a chance to establish your goals and to develop your own resources to cope with life's difficulties to enjoy a more fulfilling existence.
I work from a Humanistic/Integrative perspective and respect what it can take to approach someone for help. I use a combination of theoretical approaches in my work, and I believe this offers a more flexible and successful way of working. I provide a completely confidential, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in order to gain insight and discover a better way of living and being.
My job is to provide help and support while you reach your own decisions, it is not about telling you what to do. Together we will establish your goals and develop your ability to cope with life's difficulties and therefore enjoy a more fulfilling existence. I believe a combination of being given a positive relationship and the opportunity to explore new ways of experiencing can lead to healing and change. I am employed by the county to work with children of primary school age. I have also run a service in a secondary school for their students whom are aged between 11 and 16. I have significant experience of working within the drug and alcohol field, supporting people stop and maintain abstinence from unhealthy and problematic drug and alcohol use. I have also worked to support family members.
You can be sure that I will provide a consistently safe and secure environment within my private practice. Furthermore, I am a member of the BACP and faithfully adhere to their policies and guidelines. For further information call me and take the first steps towards real change in your life.
