About me
currently not taking on new clients
Hi my name is Ann, I am a psychodynamic therapist; I am able to use CBT interventions when required. I am also a trained EMDR therapist. My approach to counselling is ‘client centred’ working with clients on their individual needs. I believe it is firstly the relationship between the counsellor and client(s) which provide the foundation to explore, understand, challenge and change patterns of behaviour which are causing difficulties and personal distress. Psychodynamic therapy can help clients to gain insight into their lives and their present day problems in order to develop new ways of coping to live a happier life.
EMDR therapy enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. This therapy is successful in treating people suffering from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post-traumatic stress and many other emotional problems. EMDR therapy technique is most effective when used in conjunction with other traditional methods of therapy.
Many people come to counselling for many different reasons, talking to a professional can help you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and can be the first steps to looking after you, and ultimately getting better. I have experience in helping people with a huge range of issues including depression, trauma, anxiety, bereavement, relationships, anger, stress, OCD, phobias, exam stresses and disordered eating and many more issues. I work with both young people and adults. I am also a clinical supervisor. I am affiliated with Bupa health care.

Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
