Counselling is about helping you to explore issues in your life which are holding you back from living as productively, healthily and happily as you would like.It can also strengthen your coping resources, help you consider options and choices you have and give you back control when you feel powerless in situations.
You may want to use your sessions to talk about painful events from the past and their current impact upon you and your relationships or to vent and express feelings you may not wish to share with family and friends.Perhaps, you do not know why you feel unsettled in yourself.Counselling can help you understand yourself and your needs better. You can learn strategies to change the way you think and deepen your awareness of how your thinking patterns colour your view of the world...
My job is to accompany you on your journey of self-discovery,without bias but with warmth, care, empathy and appropriate challenge.
I am a fully qualified and highly experienced therapist who can use a range of working methods best suited to the needs of each unique individual client or couple.I have a good deal of life as well as professional experience and offer a confidential and non-judgmental service.
It is easy to reach me for any one living in the North Manchester/Bury/Salford/Swinton/Worsley//Prestwich/Whitefield/ Radcliffe/Crumpsall/Blackley/Middleton/Rochdale/Ashton areas. I am located ten minutes away from Jct 17 of the M60.It is also easy to reach me from Manchester City Centre.Media City is fifteen minutes away.
In addition, I am a trained Supervisor and offer Supervision Services, overseeing the practice of other Counsellors and professionals who need or wish to examine their work on a regular basis.I am also a trained Mediator and experienced in Coaching and Mentoring.
I work solely now within my own private practice-REFLECTIONS- but,my previous experience includes work in a GP practice,in a couple counselling service,in a prison counselling service and mental health department at a Senior level and within a charity assisting survivors of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and psychological trauma.I also worked for some years in a College with students and staff.I have worked in a hospital supporting people dealing with a range of illnesses including terminal illness and families dealing with bereavement.
I am a trained Relationship Counsellor and for many years, have been committed to supporting couples and individuals wishing to develop and improve their communication abilities and make decisions about their futures regarding their relationships.
I have good feedback that the strategies and techniques I teach partners wishing to grow closer and achieve high levels of mutual understanding prove to be empowering and successful.I am also committed to supporting couples going through separation and divorce to discuss issues and search for mutual understanding and closure for their relationship, difficult though this may be for each party.
I have engaged in personal counselling myself as part of my intensive training and at a time of great stress in my personal life so I have a particular insight into how valuable it is to experience constructive and empathetic listening and to gain fresh and growing awareness of yourself and your needs. This can lead to growth in confidence and decision-making. I consider my own personal counselling to be amongst the best things I have ever done, although it was a little daunting at first. It is also good to question thinking patterns and learn to manage negative tendencies to think the worst with no evidence for doing this!
I have a partner and a grown up family so am aware of parenting issues and in touch with the problems which young people and families can face today.I am happy to see families who may need Mediation and Counselling support and have a particular rapport with young people facing difficulties.

Sometimes, when we are unhappy and things feel chaotic,it is hard to recognise that we have choices and can take back control of our lives with professional support and the accompaniment of someone who can help examine issues from different standpoints.Counselling is never a "quick fix" but will always strengthen innate, inner resources and give more self-awareness for the future.Again and again,I have seen clients who have committed to Counselling transform their lives in new and exciting ways and begin to feel more fulfilled, happier and positive about themselves and their futures.
Just as we invest in our physical and material needs,I believe that investing in the emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects of our lives is always valuable, productive and worth doing!
