Hello and a warm welcome,
I specialise in counselling to help with life’s challenges including managing anxiety, stress, depression, low confidence and self-esteem, bereavement, workplace issues, relationship issues, anger and frustration and postnatal and perinatal depression and much more.
I have experience of different styles of counselling and draw on different techniques to best suit your needs, having trained as a Person Centred Integrative Counsellor.
Counselling is confidential and you can talk about anything that is bothering you in a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment. Clients typically find that it doesn't take too long before the benefits of counselling begin to ripple through their daily lives.
I am based in Stanton-on-the-Wolds, near Keyworth in Nottinghamshire, and typically see clients from the local Nottingham area. I offer counselling in a peaceful rural setting.
I offer the opportunity to have a telephone conversation to gauge if counselling is something you would like to go ahead with. There is no pressure for you to decide there and then. In fact I encourage you to take your time and you can ask as many questions as you wish.
I offer Skype and telephone sessions for clients further afield. Do get in touch to chat through how I can help you

How much does it cost ?
There is a reduced rate if a block of 12 sessions is booked. Its common for clients to commit to a minimum of six to twelve sessions, but this is entirely your decision and depends on your needs and goals. There is also a reduced fee for Counsellor Students in training.
What if I cant make a session?
Life gets busy and sometimes your plans change. There will be no charge if more than 24 hours’ notice of cancellation is given. If a session is cancelled within 24 hours (including non-attendance due to illness or adverse weather conditions), an alternative appointment during the same week will be offered, if this cannot be arranged, the full fee will be charged. If there are three back to back sessions that are cancelled them I will terminate our session.
Is it confidential?
YES. All personal information disclosed during a session will be confidential, however, there are some exceptions: Counsellors are required to have regular and on-going supervision, in line with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) code of ethics. Supervision is essential for reviewing and monitoring a therapist's work as well as an opportunity to gain new perspectives on the counselling process. If there is cause for concern for your safety, or the safety of a significant other close to you, consultation may be sought with another professional, such as your GP, but in this unusual situation the matter will be discussed with you and a mutually agreeable way forward will be sought.
Is there a minimum age
The minimum age is 18 years. (Typically). Please get in touch to discuss
What type of techniques will you use?
This completely depends on the situation and your needs, which we’ll chat about in the assessment session to make sure you are comfy and know what to expect. Research suggests that the therapeutic relationship itself is more important for a good outcome than the particular theories used. I aim to help you to feel safe, accepted, treated with respect and when necessary challenge you in a positive constructive way to help you feel empowered and make good use of our sessions.
I've never had counselling before and don't know what to expect...
Don’t worry, this is completely normal. Before we start working together we’ll chat through your needs so that you get to know what to expect. Most of my clients are new to counselling and therapy when I meet them and they often go on to become real advocates from the benefits they find it brings them.
How long do sessions last?
Each session lasts 50 minutes. Typically sessions are on a weekly basis but this depends on the person, situation and your schedule.
