Anita Brown - Counsellor - UKCP (Reg.)
If you are suffering and struggling to manage difficult experiences, memories and feelings on your own, consider getting in touch with me to experience and explore whether counselling could be of help to you.
Counselling is a powerful way to share emotional challenges with another human being who is responsive, respectful, caring, confidential and thoughtful – this is what I aspire to offer my clients by helping them to understand their suffering at a deeper level. By bringing a reflective understanding into my clients' awareness, hopefully more informed life choices can be made.
My relational approach to working with clients is from an Integrative perspective which means that I can look at the different needs of clients and consider alternative ways of relating which can help them to live more freely in the present moment rather than feeling trapped by past experiences. The theoretical schools that I integrate in my counselling and psychotherapy practice are Developmental Psychoanalysis, Person-Centred, Existential, Psychodynamic, Core Process Psychotherapy, CBT and Attachment theories.
As a fluent French speaker, I am also able to offer a bi-lingual counselling service.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and am a Registered Member of UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy), which means that I abide by the ethical principles and guidelines laid down by this governing body who regulate the practice of therapists. This further means that I am committed to continued professional development within the field of psychotherapeutic work.
The issues that I frequently work with in my practice of counselling and psychotherapy, include general anxiety, depression, developmental/childhood emotional injuries and trauma, issues of identity in respect of gender and sexuality, death and loss, existential anxieties, abuse, self-esteem, relationship problems, work issues and loss of employment, work/life balance, lack of confidence, personal growth and development, as well as associated distresses which can emerge whilst working through bereavement, grief and all nature of loss.
In addition to these experiences from within the therapeutic relationship, I also have extensive experience of working in the Financial Sector and other City based Trading organisations and Property Development Projects – so I know from first-hand experience, the demands, stresses and challenges of working in these environments.
