About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Life Coach. Additionally, I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, holding a PhD in Addiction Psychology. I am passionate about supporting people who are struggling to overcome addictive behaviour, mental health challenges, or who simply need a safe space to talk through their difficulties. I feel deeply inspired by the resilience, adaptability and capacity for change shown by individuals when faced with difficult circumstances. My aim is to listen to you attentively, compassionately and without judgement.

I have both a personal and academic interest in addiction and have extensive experience and knowledge in this area. Addiction is complex and does not exist in isolation. The key to sustaining successful behaviour change lies within each individual and their personal motivation to create permanent identity and lifestyle changes.

Our work together is based on assisting you to recognise and address inner conflicts, find potential solutions to what is troubling you and to support you through your difficulties. This can help you to gain a clearer understanding of yourself, develop new perspectives on problems and learn helpful coping strategies.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a lecturer and published author, holding a PG Dip in Integrative Counselling and Coaching (Distinction).  I also have a PhD in Addiction Psychology and I am a Chartered Psychologist (British Psychological Society).  I have previously worked for an addiction service as well as a charity supporting people who have had difficulties around pregnancy and childbirth.  Through my private practice, I have gained extensive experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds, helping them to overcome a variety of personal challenges and to recognise their own inner strength and resilience.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
