About me
I have more than 20 years experience offering counselling and over 12 years experience in clinical supervision. In private practice we will work together to tailor a service that matches your needs, whether this be long or short term counselling.
As a person centred counsellor I believe that we all have within us the answers that are needed and counselling is an exploration of your problems and concerns. Working together, in a safe, warm, non-judgemental environment, we can clarify a way forward that feels comfortable for you.
As a qualified supervisor I have been trained to recognise,respect and work within different modalities of counselling and psychotherapy. I am able to offer one to one or group supervision and have experience in writing training reports for counselling students if required. I am familiar with and able to work to the requirements of a variety of training courses.
I work confidentially and to the BACP Ethical Framework and I have supervision for all of my work.
I have designed and presented some Continual Professional Development (CPD) day courses.
Training, qualifications & experience
I originally trained as a Therapy Radiographer treating cancer patients until I left work to have my three children. Whilst working in radiotherapy I had started to wonder how people coped emotionally with the devastating news of a cancer diagnosis. So I retrained and did a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and started counselling in 1999. A potentially life threatening illness such as cancer brings forward anxiety, stress, depression and whole life stories, as often happens when life changes dramatically. This didn't only apply to a cancer diagnosis. People have life events and losses that are equally devastating to them. That may be loss of a child, a parent, a partner, a job perhaps through redundancy, confidence and meaning. These losses can cause debilitating anxiety and /or depression with a loss of direction in life. Sometimes there doesn't appear to be a specific reason for how you may be feeling.
I did the Cruse Bereavement training course and later a Diploma in Clinical Supervision and started supervising qualified and trainee counsellors in 2009.
I also attend to my own CPD.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I work Monday,Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday with some evening appointments available.
My Fees are: £45 an hour for counselling.
£45 an hour for supervision or £65 for an hour and a half with a reduced rate for trainees.
