About me

Angela offers appointments online via Zoom & face-to-face appointments in Horam, near Heathfield, East Sussex.

About me: I am a BACP registered Psychotherapist, EMDR trauma specialist, Couples Counselling & Hypnotherapist with 25 years in practice. I'm also a clinical supervisor to new and experienced therapists and I'm Enhanced DBS checked.

My work as a therapist:  I love my job and dedicated to giving clients my best service - I think this is key to any success.  I offer a tranquil, confidential space and my values are that of professionalism, ethics and respect.  My work is usually short to medium term with individual adults, teenagers, adolescents and couples covering issues such as anxiety, panic attacks, co-dependency, anorexia, habits, stress, addictions, low self-esteem, depression, IVF/fertility, relationships issues, stress, confidence, survivors of child abuse, teenage issues, self-harm, cannabis dependency, co-dependency, PTSD, trauma and fears/phobias.  My sessions are based around the person and their individuality.

I use EMDR therapy (eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing) for issues such as trauma, flashbacks, anxiety issues, physical sensations of panic and anxiety, phobias and emotional overwhelm and have found the process of EMDR to be immensely helpful to clients.

With couples counselling, my work is based in attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which relates to the bonding between the couple and meeting each others needs.

The way in which I work: I offer an initial session for individuals of 75 minutes, followed by 60 minute sessions.   The frequency of sessions is tailored to the individual and their requirements.  Sessions offered to teens are sometimes shorter than an hour, depending on the issue and capacity of the teen.   I offer Zoom sessions for those who cannot travel or those who wish to save time travelling, etc.

Clinical supervision: I am also a Clinical Supervisor to qualified and practising psychotherapists as well as trainees and those on placements, working with children or adults. I was a Supervisor for trainee and qualified psychotherapists and counsellors on placements with Kids Company for 10 years. My client base also includes those referred by trauma and addiction charities. I also offer Zoom sessions for supervision work.

Audio downloads & CDs: I offer hypnotherapy & subliminal recordings for sale as downloads to assist with a variety of issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
