About me

There will be times in our lives when we experience unwanted and difficult feelings which may seem overwhelming. We may be struggling with relationships, we might have feelings of anxiety or low mood. At such times, we may find it beneficial to reach out to a trained professional who can listen with compassion but without judging.

I provide a private, comfortable and safe space in which we can work together to help you to understand your particular situation. Frequently, looking at events in our pasts that may have influenced us can help us to understand why we feel and act the way we do; this can enable us to change how we manage things now and in the future.

I am a qualified counsellor with more than 16 years’ experience and have worked in a variety of settings. I worked for eight years in a local charitable organisation where I supported adults and young people providing individual counselling and therapeutic/ psycho-educational groups. I have in-depth knowledge of trauma related to childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault and domestic abuse. I have also counselled within schools, colleges and universities. I have worked extensively with people who suffered with: anger, anxiety, depression, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship issues, self-harm or stress.

How I work

I offer individual counselling for adults and young people aged 11 and over. This can be time limited sessions (6-12) or for as long as required (open ended). Each session lasts for 50 minutes, usually at the same time on the same day each week although I may be able to offer some flexibility. I offer both daytime and early evening sessions. Please do feel free to contact me regarding any questions or queries you may have, I look forward to hearing from you.

My practice is in Chandlers Ford, less than five minutes’ walk from the railway station and local bus stops. I am within easy reach of Eastleigh, Winchester, Romsey, Hedge End and Southampton and there is free roadside parking.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which sets ethical guidelines for the counselling I provide. I also hold the appropriate DBS checks to work with young people. I am fully insured.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
