About me

Are you a successful professional who feels out of control due to worrying and over thinking about worst case scenarios in your head? Perhaps your anxiety is making it difficult for you to sleep well and relax, causing problems in your relationships, or bringing on panic attacks. You may have been coping by trying to block the worries out or avoid the situations that trigger your anxiety, but this is only making it harder for you to be present in your life and relationships the way you want to be. I'm here to help and let you know that you can learn to live life in the moment and trust yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

Welcome, I'm Dr. Aneesa Shariff, a dual qualified clinical and counselling psychologist specialising in all forms of anxiety (OCD, panic attacks, general anxiety, social anxiety, phobias) and culturally inclusive therapy. I believe there is no one size fits all approach to accessing support. I offer traditional therapy sessions, and mini 30 minute sessions and one off coaching to suit different needs. Together, we will get to the source of your anxiety, and create a personalised treatment plan using a blend of scientifically supported therapies including CBT and other approaches.

It's not easy to seek out therapy, but a good therapist will help you feel at ease with the process. We are all human and struggle differently in life, and I believe therapy should feel as routine as seeing a personal trainer or a GP. If you're ready to take the first step, please email me to arrange a free 15 minute phone consultation today.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information

Outside of providing psychological therapy, assessment, and coaching, I am a media psychologist and am asked to speak regularly to the press about different psychological topics, which I really enjoy! I'm passionate about reducing the amount of mental health misinformation out there, which is unfortunately very prevalent. I'm also a published author and researcher in my special interest area of culturally inclusive therapy and ethnic identity development. As a doctoral level therapist, I strive to provide the highest level of ethical, evidence based, and empathic care to clients with the wealth of experience I have both in the NHS and private sector.
