Andy Critchley MA
I offer comfort and practical dynamic creative therapy.
As a practising Dramatherapist, I can offer conversation but also creative ways of beginning to explore and share your experience.
Within the therapeutic relationship you can explore the context of your life experience to make sense of feelings, allowing fresh perspectives and potential new approaches.
Dramatherapy (Arts Psychotherapy) allows us to access the creative flexible language of music, art and theatre to facilitate self-healing within a collaborative containing therapeutic relationship.
By projecting our feelings and experiences into art forms or stories we can gain some distance and then new perspectives on our own lives.
Creativity is a natural human healing process and in the therapy situation there is no good or bad art. It is used as a way of getting back in touch with our own rhythms and to tune back in to the parts of ourselves that advocate for us and nurture us - or to find language to express and share things that are yet unconscious or hard to put into words.
There is no formulaic approach to this work and your process is the only priority in the therapeutic relationship; that potentially includes conversation, art making, music, poetry, movement, role-play and psychodrama.
I offer individualised work to your timescales.
Training, qualifications & experience
As well as having private practice I currently work as a therapist within NHS child, adolescent and adult mental health services.
I have experience of working with a broad range of experiences - people who want to be empowered, realise their potential, make sense of their lives, find their voice, people who want to re-address the past, also complex mental health experiences.
I have an MA in Dramatherapy and trained at Roehampton University.
