About me

British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Status: This is awarded, after a rigorous vetting process, to counsellors with extensive training, depth of experience, and dedication to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.

My aim: To help you Reconnect, Heal and Overcome your relationship issues. I work exclusively with couples, helping you build a stronger, more fulfilling relationship. One that can weather life’s inevitable ups and downs without needing to return to counselling.

Finding the Right Fit for You: Research consistently shows that a strong connection between you and your counsellor is one of the most important factors for meaningful progress. That’s why I offer a full first session at no upfront cost—you’ll only pay if you decide I’m the right fit for you.

Example of what clients say about working with me: "We’d been to couples counselling before, but our experience with Andrew was refreshingly positive and genuinely practical. From the start, we felt at ease with him, and we’ve gained invaluable relationship skills and self-awareness. His dedication to helping us become experts in our own relationship has given us the confidence to navigate challenges independently. The improvements we’ve seen—not just in our relationship, but  also in our work lives—have exceeded all our expectations. We’re so grateful for his support. Thank you, Andrew."

Deep experience and expertise: Over the years, the concepts and tools I’ve developed have been featured in leading counselling journals and adopted by professionals worldwide, helping thousands of couples. By choosing to work with me, you’ll benefit from an approach rooted in the latest insights into relationship recovery and resilience.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

My hourly rate is £140. Each session lasts 90 minutes, followed by at least 30 minutes that I dedicate to summarising our discussion and adding my reflections. To reflect this extended commitment, I charge for two hours per session. This approach enhances continuity between sessions, maximising the value clients gain and supporting them in making the most of the time between meetings. It also reduces the overall number of sessions required to achieve their desired outcomes. Consequently, clients who work with me typically spend less overall while building stronger relationship resilience, which decreases the likelihood of needing couple counselling in the future.

Prospective clients only pay for the first session if they decide to continue working with me. This allows you to ensure, risk-free, that my approach aligns with your needs. Research highlights the importance of a strong client-counselor connection in achieving desired outcomes, which is why I believe in offering a “try-before-you-buy” experience.

Each client has a secure online file containing session summaries, my reflections, and a space for sharing their own thoughts with me. For couples, these files are private and accessible only to the individual client, ensuring that personal reflections remain confidential between us.
