Andrew Smith BA (hons), MA, DipSW, Dip Psych, PhD (to be awarded)
Thank you for reading my profile.
I am a qualified psychotherapist, yoga teacher, and family therapist. I combine all these skills within practice. I also deliver various training programmes, and am a member of:
- European Society for Psychological Stress Studies
- Society for Psychotherapy Research
- European Association for Psychotherapy
- The International Centre for Therapeutic Care
- Institute for Recovery from Child Trauma
- UK Psychological Trauma Society
I am an alumni of Scarborough Psychotherapy Training Institute, the University of York, and about to complete doctoral research at the University of Chester. I have researched extensively the process of effective therapeutic recovery. I have a range of publications, alongside extensive training and lecturing experience.
In terms of practice, I work integratively; I use a wide selection of tools, training, and experience to ensure I help clients as effectively as possible. I have particular experience and expertise around recovery from trauma, gender dysmorphia, addiction, sexuality, loss, identity, and anger. I work with all genders and pronouns, and respect alternative approaches to life and being.
Finally, I am the clinical director of a company that provides psychotherapy, counselling, supervision, and training to individuals, families, and couples. We have a well fitted therapeutic suite based in the centre of Halifax, UK. We support a wide range of clients within the Lancashire, Yorkshire, and humber region. Contact us to see if we can help you.
If you are a therapist, and would benefit working under the umbrella of an organisation such as ours, please also feel free to get in touch and begin dialogue with us. And if you need a consulting room to hire, please also get in touch.
