How I Work
I can offer a warm, open minded and safe therapeutic relationship. I believe building a trusting and appropriate working relationship is key to getting positive outcomes. I work on both a long and short term basis.
I am trained in Contemporary Psychodynamic practice but use various approaches and I would be pleased to discuss options with you in a free 30 minute introductionary session when we can talk and see how I can help.
I have many years experience in Counselling working with a wide range of issues and have a very broad experience of life both personally and in my previous career working with young people, in community education and in industry.
What Counselling Can Offer
There are many ways in which Counselling & Psychotherapy can help, this will depend on what you are aiming for & on the building of a trusting relationship. Many people find that a confidential space to talk through difficult issues helps them make sense of the past and to disentangle it from the present.
Therapy can help with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, anger management and other personal difficulties as well as helping to change problematic behaviours, develop self-awareness and personal understanding.
I have a lot of experience of online working and have found it to be a very useful way to work both therapeutically and practically.
I use WhatsApp as it is encripted and confidential but also work via Zoom and phone.
My sessions are online or by phone and are 50 minutes in length at a regular agreed time.
Free Introductary Session
I offer a free 30 minute introductionary session in which I am very happy to discuss options with you and give you the opportunity to see if we could work together.
I would text you just before our agreed time to make sure you are ready then call you via our agreed method.
If we agree to work together we can then set a regular time to talk.
I will ask for essentail contact details that I need to be able to offer a working relationship and email you my Counselling Agreement which covers confidentiaity, my ethical framework, data protection and social media.
Therapy is not always a quick and easy process and at times it can be difficult, I recommend at least 6 to 10 sessions to help make the process effective.
Payment would be via bank transfer.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
