About me

Hello and welcome,

Managing emotions is an integral part of everyone’s life. We all feel positive and negative emotions at different times. Feeling negative emotions can be a natural and appropriate response to what is happening in our lives. However, sometimes we may experience becoming stuck in these emotions. This can be a very difficult place to find ourselves in. During these periods it can be really helpful to have yourself a safe and confidential space to work through these thoughts and feelings in a setting where you will not be judged.

Counselling can help with all sorts of different issues. It can help with positive events such as choosing a direction in life or reaching your full potential. Perhaps you are feeling a ‘bit stuck’ and would value the viewpoint of a counsellor. There may be things from your past that you would like to tackle or there may be things in the present that you want to try and change. Perhaps you are experiencing significant events in your life such as getting married and starting a family, leaving home for the first time or coming to terms with the death of a loved one.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP and have a level 4 Diploma in Counselling. I will do everything I can to enable you to feel fully understood, accepted and not judged. I will offer you a safe and secure place to explore what is going on for you - helping you to recognise your own potential and further your personal growth. I use a combined approach to counselling and therapy, it is called integrative counselling, which just means I use different elements from various therapies to ensure our work is meaningful and effective. Integrative counsellors do not feel there is one single approach that can work for everyone. So when I work with you, I may be using a range of approaches and techniques depending on what is needed at the time.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have worked with many other issues in addition to this list and I am open to working with any issue or reason you may have for seeking counselling.

50 min Initial Consultation £30

An initial consultation gives us the opportunity to get a feel for whether we can work well together. On my side, that involves assessing whether I am able to offer you effective therapeutic support, and whether I feel my approach is going to be useful for you. On your side, that involves getting a feel for whether you will be able to bring whatever you need to bring into our sessions.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
