About me

I currently offer online or phone counselling. I am a qualified person centred counsellor. I use an integrative approach, which means I draw on other theoretical approaches in my work, where I feel this is helpful.

I offer a warm space where I will support you to further explore yourself and honour those feelings that you bring. I believe that all our feelings have an implicit intelligence, however uncomfortable we may find them and however much we may wish to avoid them. Where we try to avoid them, I believe that they don’t just go away, but lurk around in our subconscious potentially, as John Welwood states, wreaking havoc.

nb, I am a big fan of John Welwood and would heartily recommend his work, although I know that what benefits each person is a very individual thing.

I am also a qualified social worker and worked in adult community services for a number of years as a senior practitioner. I decided to retrain in counselling as I know how massively I benefitted from my own experience of counselling and believe that this work suits my skill set.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
