Andrew Dettman - Addiction Counsellor
My background training, experience and professional development have allowed me to develop a new orientation tool for the renewing of problem solving ability that works both for individuals and systems. This approach is called Diction Resolution Therapy (DRT)
DRT draws upon direct experience of working with client groups in a rehab setting with principles that work in practice, principles that permit clients to 'see' where their inner mapping is failing and therefore how to begin to resolve these failures.
DRT restores the word 'addiction' to a healthy place within a problem solving pathway, thus releasing new energy and will power to actualise a new pathway through old problems
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a deep experience of counselling for behaviour change within addictive situations. My background has been as a civilian counsellor within the Prison System and latterly I have developed a new orientation approach to behaviour change that is called Diction Resolution Therapy (DRT)
I have a Diploma In Addiction Counselling and have previously worked as a Counsellor and Senior Counsellor in a large rehab setting when I was accredited with the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals.
More recently I have passed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency that places me upon their Accredited Register. I see addiction as a primary disease with many forms that are all related. There are many symptoms of disturbance for people and systems that are in fact linked to addiction. My work helps identify whether a presenting symptom might be linked to a form of addiction and if so then to help with a new approach to what might be quite long standing difficulties.
