Andelo Tabu Ngandi
I am an accredited counsellor and a psychotherapist with the NHS and in private practice. My main languages are English and French.
I trained in Northampton in Integrative Counselling (MSc), in London at London Southbank University in Addiction Counselling and Psychology (MSc) and in Southampton in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (PGCert).
I have been in clinical practice during the past 10 years.
My main clinical interest are trauma, bereavement, loss, relationships, addiction and spiritual identity.
Trauma can follow a car accident, can be the consequence of being raised by abusive parents, or parents who have neglected us, the loss of loved ones, severe illness, it can stem from an abusive relationship and other events in our lives, which at times we are not even aware of, as trauma goes at times through generations.
Trauma can manifest through symptoms which emerge usually at the same time, shortly after the traumatic event, or years after the traumatising episode. These can range from severe mood swing, shame and the lack of self-esteem, panic attacks, addictive behaviours or attraction to dangerous situation, difficult relationships and inability to make commitments, anxiety and depression or several others symptoms, we at times find it difficult to link to the traumatising experience.
Trauma can create severe somatisation such as asthma, fibromyalgia and problems to the immune system. Overall trauma can severely affect the quality of our lives and out of awareness we might develop the tendency to repeat the same behavioural patterns over and over, in an attempt to protect ourselves and to survive the traumatising experience.
I am able to work with clients who present with:
- Panic attacks, anxiety and phobia
- Depression, lack of self-esteem and self-worth
- Eating disorders
- Couples relationship and difficulty to bond with other individuals
- Reduced ability to deal with stress and stressful events
