Ana Maria Castro
Counselling Psychologist (NCS, NHS, MSc in Psychology Studies - BPS Accredited, BA (Hons) in Psychology and Management)
I exclusively provide online therapy and psychological assessments for adults. Over the last 2 years, my focal point was to work with individuals who suffered domestic abuse. Therefore I have more experience of working with trauma, abuse, depression, and anxiety. But I also work with a range of different issues. Trust and mutual respect is central to my way of working. I operate in a directive approach, actively engage in a dialogic relationship, focus on the wholeness of the client, psycho-educate, and offer the three core conditions in therapy; empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard to my clients.
I am trained in multiple models of therapy to tailor my therapy style according to my client’s needs, goals, and what work best for them, which we refer to as an integrative approach. I am accredited by The National Counselling Society (NCS). I am also trained in hypnotherapy. I am accredited by The National Hypnotherapy Society (HS). Therefore I can also offer hypnotherapy if requested.
I offer a one off initial consultation to explore the reasons your seeking support right now, whether I am the right therapist for you, and your goals and aspirations. If, after this, we both feel that we can work effectively together, we will set a day and time for your counselling sessions. Together we can find a way through. Call me to find out more.

At the same time I was undertaking counselling courses at Chrysalis Courses, which lasted four years.
This year I have concluded my studies on AIM awards level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from the Chrysalis Courses, completing a final phase of training to be a qualified counsellor. I am also trained in hypnotherapy and accredited by The National Hypnotherapy Society (HS). Over the last 2 years I have completed more than 100 practical hours of clinical supervised practice at two charities. I continue to work for the charity that empowers women who have suffered domestic abuse.
