About me
People consider working with a counsellor for many different reasons - perhaps you have been feeling low, anxious or overwhelmed, disconnected or lost. You may have a sense of being stuck in a life that is no longer working for you but don’t know which way to turn, maybe feeling low in confidence or self-esteem. Perhaps you feel like a square peg in a round hole, never quite ‘fitting in’ or are feeling like you are fighting to stay afloat. You may be interested in exploring your identity and would like to gain a greater understanding and acceptance of yourself. Whatever your own reasons may be they are valid and you do not have to be experiencing crisis to start counselling.
Taking these first steps towards starting counselling and addressing what may be troubling you may feel daunting and full of uncertainty, so well done for making it this far, and thank you for choosing to view my profile.
I facilitate a welcoming, calm and safe environment, allowing you to explore the issues in your life and how you feel, free of judgment or expectation. We take things at your pace, working with whatever you feel you can bring to the session that day. With the understanding that the counselling process may not always be easy or comfortable I work with sensitivity, care and acceptance. I also welcome laughter in our sessions – I’ll meet you wherever you’re at and will gladly celebrate with you your victories – the big ones and the tiny ones.
I am a neurodivergent-affirming counsellor so if this is your experience I acknowledge with respect the unique challenges you may face every day.
I am an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
Training, qualifications & experience
I also work as a counsellor for a mental health charity, Ponthafren, based in Powys. I have been with them for over 5 years.
I have completed the Level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, as well as other relevant training, and I regularly take part in different styles of professional development to ensure I maintain a high standard of counselling practice.
