About me
I am an experienced qualified practitioner offering online and telephone counselling in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, stress, phobias and bereavement are just a few issues which can affect our mental health and most people will experience these feelings at some point during their lives.
It is times like this when we are experience distressing, sometimes tragic events, which seem to have no end or solution in sight, and that is when we need support. It is ok to need support, everybody every now and again, needs a helping hand.
Counselling is a process by which you are emotionally supported in a confidential setting, to gain more insight into yourself, your situation and your relationships with others.
I don't believe people should feel they have to be silent when it comes to dealing with their feelings and emotions. People often feel scared to share what they are thinking and may need a bit of encouragement to explore their emotions further. An independent, listening ear is sometimes missing in some people's lives and this is where counselling therapy can be very beneficial.
I decided to become a counsellor because I have always had a keen interest in people and their mental health. Society and people's past experiences can strongly influence the way people believe they "should" and "shouldn't" be which can sometimes make us forget who we actually want to be and who we are.
As part of my role as a therapist, I have also become experienced in working with neurodiversity and understand the difficulties faced by people on a daily basis. As a therapist, I work to encourage the acceptance of neurological differences while focusing on empowering individuals to understand and leverage their unique strengths and abilities.
I can provide emotional warmth and a friendly approach to make people feel at ease and reassured. I have built many previous professional counselling relationships, helping people of all ages, work through problems they are facing in their lives.
I offer Person Centred Counselling and integrative therapy if appropriate.
Person Centred Therapy will allow you to approach and explore any difficulties you may be experiencing in your life at your own pace. It is very important to feel comfortable and safe with the counsellor you choose so trust can be built and a professional counselling relationship formed. As a Person Centred Therapist I will provide a non-judgmental, confidential and safe setting in which to work together so you are able to talk openly and resolve any issues you may have.
Integrative Therapy is a flexible approach to psychotherapy that combines techniques and ideas from various therapeutic schools of thought to address an individual's needs and circumstances. This can also help you manage your problems in a more positive way by changing the way you think and behave. It encourages you to examine how your actions can affect how you think and feel.
I work over the telephone or online which provides a comfortable and flexible setting for clients and sometimes can help people to open up and be truthful with their own emotions.
Making the decision to contact a counsellor is sometimes the most difficult part of the self-healing process but once you begin to talk about your feelings and emotions you will realise how beneficial and, sometimes life changing, counselling can be.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
