About me

Hello there and welcome to Lighthouse Counselling Leeds!

My name is Amy, and I am a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist operating in the Leeds & Wakefield area. Whatever has brought you here today, you have already taken the first step towards a new beginning. Ready for change but perhaps unsure of where to begin, my priority is to help you navigate a new path forward, offering a confidential and welcoming environment from which we can begin to explore the areas you feel may be holding you back.

I hold a decade of experience within the pastoral & counselling sector, working with a variety of clients from all over the world to overcome personal obstacles to reach their full potential. In this role I came to appreciate the mystical nature of the human psyche, growing towards connection and love with another. In their search for love and connection, each of us can lose a piece of ourselves – a voice, a purpose, an identity. In bringing this part of the client back to life, something awakens in me. A deep respect for each individual journey, an empathy for challenges they face and gratitude for allowing me to join them.

Whether you are stressed at work, experiencing relational difficulties, dealing with a major life event, or simply tired, overwhelmed and feeling alone - I can be there for you. I am committed to providing counselling & psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment and I take a humanistic approach to make you feel as at home as possible whist we work together, empowering you to live your life by your own terms.

My years of working in academic and pastoral settings have provided the unique opportunity to work with clients from all over the world, developing a cultural awareness and adapting my approach to be accommodating and respectful of difference. I welcome clients from all walks of life to my counselling & psychotherapy practice here in the Leeds & Wakefield area.

I understand that often the first step can be the hardest, and I welcome calls or emails if you would like to find out a little more about either my work or what to expect from Counselling. I also offer a reduced rate for our initial assessments to help decide if I am the Therapist for you.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
