About me

Why choose Counselling?

The nature of our busy lives often means that we do not take the time to make sense of our thoughts, feelings and actions. This can so often lead to prolonged distress and mental health issues such as Anxiety and Depression. It can be difficult to know where to begin, and the answers are often far from obvious adding to our confusion and distress. Please know that you are not alone, and counselling can help.

Why Choose Me?

There are times when we just don’t know who to turn to, this can lead to inner turmoil and may promote feelings of isolation. I can help you, through the provision of a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where we can work through the issues together.

How Can I Help?

If you are unsure where the roots of your troubles lie, or why unhelpful patterns of behaviour persist, as a psychodynamic counsellor, I can help you to explore possibilities through the counselling relationship. One of the many benefits of doing this will be an increase in self-awareness; indeed we can all benefit from getting to know ourselves better. Rather than to simply reduce thoughts, actions and behaviours to innate factors, ‘its just how we are’, we can explore how past experiences, including trauma, may have influenced your mind-set. We can consider the factors that have helped to shape your unique view of the world, one which ultimately may be working against you. With progression towards these insights, different choices and paths can become available to you, offering a transformative effect.

Maybe you recognise that a recent event or situation has triggered your distress. The opportunity to share your feelings with another in a dedicated and safe space can help you to heal and move forward at the pace appropriate to your needs. This might be bereavement, relationship issues such as separation/divorce, parent/child relationships, work issues such as redundancy or bullying, health issues and many, many more.

How Do I work?

Please note I am currently working online only.

From the comfort of my dedicated counselling office in Ampthill, we can work together to explore any issues or worries you may have. The environment and service I provide is one concerned with acceptance and diversity, and this is embedded within the ethos and operation of my practice. No issue is regarded too large or small, support is offered willingly and without judgement to all.

How To Get In Touch...

Please feel free to contact me via text, phone or email and we can work towards arranging an initial meeting via Zoom where we can decide together whether to move forward with regular counselling. My preference is to work with Clients on a weekly basis with regular sessions, but I am open to more flexible arrangements under some circumstances and depending upon my availability.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
