Ami Patel - Adv Dip, MBACP.
Hello and I welcome you to my profile. My method of thinking is as quoted by Carl Jung -
‘I am not what has happened to me. I am what I choose to become’.
Sometimes unexpected circumstances occur in life which can be out of your control leaving you feeling overwhelmed and not the person you are. Whoever you choose to become I am here to support you through this. I appreciate the differences each client brings that not one person shares the same path, I respect the uniqueness and the individuality of a person. In doing so I work in an empathic, compassionate and holistic way, aiming always to meet my client’s needs and focusing on their overall well-being. Hopefully achieving some clarity and increased self – awareness during the counselling sessions.
How Counselling can help:
Counselling is about self-exploration, gaining awareness and taking actions towards positive change. This is done by building a unique relationship where the focus is on you. Counselling is not about me giving you advice as you already get this from friends and family, but is about having a space where you can openly share issues and emotions in a non- judgemental environment and have support in the decisions you make, in this empowering to make changes in your daily life.
Style of counselling:
Trained as an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor, so I can tailor the counselling approach to best suit my client needs. I am a registered member of the BACP working in line with their code of ethics. Offering long and short term counselling. I provide a non- judgemental, safe, confidential environment where you can truly be YOU.

It takes courage to realise that sometimes support is needed and therefore I offer a free short informal chat where you can ask any questions you may have on your mind or get to know me a bit better before you proceed any further.
If you wish to proceed further than an hour session can be booked at a fee of £20 this would be an opportunity to discuss in detail about any concerns you may have and to ensure you feel comfortable and confident to work together.
After your initial session you feel that counselling is suitable for you, further sessions will be at a fee of £40 for an hour long session.
I may be able to offer discounted counselling session for those on a low income, unemployed and students.
