About me

I am a Bishops Stortford based Counsellor working with adults, couples and young adults (16-25). I am an experienced psychodynamically trained BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited counsellor.

Mental health struggles affect everyday life, impacting our ability to cope. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, anger or feel tearful it is not always easy to understand why you're struggling. Sometimes is more obvious, relationship breakup, bereavement, domestic abuse or trauma, by talking through these experiences it can help you process their impact on you.

Seeking advice to overcome your feelings is a big step, it can be helpful to have someone beside you on your journey. I provide a safe, compassionate environment to help you navigate lifes' challenges.

Counselling provides an opportunity for you to express your thoughts and feelings,  helping make sense of what you're feeling and understanding why you feel the way you do. Developing an understanding of yourself can bring psychological change and help you find ways to move forwards.

Psychodynamic counselling can help you gain an understanding of deep rooted feelings and struggles. Sometimes we find ourselves repeating patterns of behaviour and not understanding why, exploring them can help make sense of the emotions.

Working together I can help you develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts and feelings, developing greater self awareness.

Couples therapy can be beneficial for couples at any stage of their relationship. Sessions will facilitate discussions to develop greater understanding of each other, communicate more effectively, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. It can also be helpful for couples considering separation or divorce, providing an opportunity to explore options and make informed decisions about the future of the relationship.

I am an approved provider of Counselling services for private health care companies including BUPA, Aviva, Vitality and Health Assured..

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
