About me

Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Amanda. I am a person-centred therapist and I work at Safe Haven Counselling Wirral. My counselling service offers a calm and tranquil location where you can share any concerns or challenges you might be facing in a non-judgemental and caring environment. The one-to one counselling service takes place in a purpose-built log cabin located in a quiet garden on the Wirral. It offers privacy and an intimate space in which to talk and be heard. I offer open-ended counselling.

I am a qualified practitioner with an MA from the University of Chester. I continually update my practice through undertaking short courses, most recently in cognitive behavioural therapy. I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their ethical framework in my practice. I have worked with a variety of clients in a number of locations throughout the North West. Prior to training as a therapist, I worked as a researcher and lecturer in higher education.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in Clinical Counselling (distinction) from the University of Chester. I am trained in the person-centred approach. I have also undertaken a number of other short training courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution-focused brief Therapy. I have worked in a number of locations across the North-West including in the charitable sector (Jigsaw Counselling, Widnes), medical centres (West Kirby and Leasowe), and in education (West Cheshire College, Liverpool Hope and Liverpool John Moores).

I have worked with a range of clients of different ages, genders and issues. I have experience of working with people who have experienced the following: anxiety, depression, work-related stress, infertility and pregnancy loss, bereavement, relationship breakdown, low self-esteem, sexual identity, childhood trauma and abuse.
