Hi, my name is Amanda Gutierres. I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor/psychotherapist,
I have a passion for helping people to find resources within themselves to live a fulfilled life, a passion I nurture by dedicating my life to reading, researching and studying, to learn techniques and skills that further empower me to do just that.
I provide a non-judgemental, safe place for you to talk, be listened to, and, together, to find where you need the support and work with you on it. I am bilingual and I can offer counselling in English and Portuguese.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have more than a decade of experience working with clients affected by different kinds of mental health issues, from depression and anxiety to personality disorders. I have worked as a psychotherapist in a wide range of settings including hospitals, schools, clients’ homes, and a private clinic.
I work within the ethical framework of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and of the BPS (British Psychological Society), which means that I am committed to continual professional development and regular supervision to ensure she can offer excellence in her practice. She is a Registered Member of BACP and a graduate member of BPS.
I have completed five years, full-time training in integrative psychotherapy at the UniFMU in Brazil, and I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Psychotherapy. I have a postgraduate certificate in Psychological counselling with people with PTSD and children, and a postgraduate certificate in CBT skills.
I also completed four years of training in Transpersonal Psychotherapy at Energy Dynamic of the Psyche (DEP), an institute in Brazil, and have counselling skills certificates working with both children and adults.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
