About me

If you’re struggling with feelings of anxiety or overwhelm, or if you’re feeling low, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, counselling offers a safe place to explore these challenges. You might be facing a significant life change, whether it's a shift in your career, relationships, or personal goals, and feel uncertain about the next steps. Perhaps you’ve noticed unhealthy or recurring patterns in your relationships that you’re looking to understand or change, or you're navigating the pain of a loss or bereavement that’s making it hard to cope. It could also be that you’re simply seeking to better understand yourself, improve your wellbeing, or find more effective ways to manage stress and emotional hurdles. Whatever it may be, counselling can provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space to talk openly, gain clarity, and work together on finding meaningful ways to move forward in your life.

At AP Counselling, I offer a calm, confidential space where you’re met with empathy, and where your thoughts and feelings are welcomed and truly listened to. My goal is to help you gain deeper insight through exploration and support you in finding ways to create lasting change.

I understand that taking the first step to contact a counsellor can feel daunting. That’s why I aim to be transparent and supportive throughout the entire process, so you know exactly what to expect from the beginning. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or to enquire about my availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my experience of face to face client work 11 years ago, and I have worked within several counselling organisations prior to opening my private practice 7 years ago, where I have been able to work with a wide range of people and issues.

In 2021, I was proud to be awarded accreditation from the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means that I have gone through an in-depth assessment process, evidencing high standards in my experience, knowledge and development in counselling and psychotherapy.

My Qualifications:

  • Individual BACP Accreditation. (MBACP)Accred
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Skills. PG(Dip)
  • Advanced Certificate in Couples Therapy (COSRT Approved)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Skills. PG(Cert)
  • Degree in Counselling and Psychology. BA (Hons)

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
