About me

The counselling I offer can help you to reduce confusion and enable choice or change by offering the opportunity to explore aspects of your life, thoughts and feelings.

As a warm and professional practitioner, I offer a person-centred approach meaning that you, and what you need, will be the focus of the sessions. I also work integratively; this means that I may draw on knowledge from other theories, for example Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Transactional Analysis, if I feel this may be helpful for you.

I will draw on both my theoretical knowledge of counselling and my practical experience in my work with you; I am a strong believer in the importance of the development of the therapeutic relationship in enabling the counselling process.  With this in mind, it is important that you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor so if you have any questions, or would like any further information, you are welcome to contact me by email or telephone or to book an initial, one-off session (please see further details in Fees section).

I appreciate that it takes courage to take this first, brave step and can assure you of a respectful and understanding response; recognising that this is your choice.

Each session lasts for just under one hour.

An initial, assessment session is offered at the reduced rate of £30.00, if required.  This is in order to give you the opportunity to meet me, to find out more about the counselling service I offer and to decide whether it is right for you.

£40.00 for all subsequent sessions.

You may find it helpful to book and pay for a block of six sessions; if this option appeals to you, I offer the rate of £220.00 (the equivalent of one session at half price).

Alternatively, sessions can be booked individually, as and when you feel you need them.

Payment to be made 48 hours in advance, by BACS transfer, or in cash at the beginning of each session.

Further information

I work from rooms at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton (public car parks around the town) or, alternatively, from the 'Wellmoor' Counselling Room at Moretonhampstead Hospital; this is a light and airy room with limited private parking on site.

Please do have a look at my website for further information; you are also welcome to contact me direct, via email or telephone, if you have any questions.

I look forward to hearing from you.
