About me

Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

My name is Amanda Harding.

I'm a registered member of the BACP and adhere to following their ethical code of practice.

I'm a qualified humanistic integrative counsellor, my approach is predominately person-centred which means you guide me. If it's beneficial to you and your individual needs, I will tailor my therapeutic approach to integrate elements often associated with cognitive behavioural therapy.  Together we will explore your emotions and feelings at a pace set by you to help improve your well-being and facilitate positive changes in your life.

My philosophical approach is to offer a respectful safe, confidential space that is free of judgement.

My aim and responsibility are to meet your individual needs and aid you to feel heard and valued whilst working together to find a solution.  I offer a therapeutic space where you can explore your individuality, difference and diversity and together facilitate improvement in your well-being and self-awareness.

Our therapeutic relationship is of the utmost importance to me. I believe my demonstration of trust and respect for the therapeutic process aids in a deeper exploration of your feelings and my offer of emotional support helps you to make sense of your worries and concerns.

I have experience in counselling a variety of age ranges and mental well-being issues.

This has involved working within primary, secondary and further education settings. My therapeutic approach demonstrates kindness and warmth providing an opportunity to challenge and reframe your thoughts or perceptions. I believe that a trusting and respectful relationship between you and your counsellor is at the heart of successful personal growth, clarity and self-awareness.

I offer counselling for a variety of issues such as depression, generalised anxiety disorder, bereavement, long-term illness, relationship issues, low self-esteem, self-harm, bullying, exam & work stress, and panic attacks, just to mention a few.

My specialism is working with young people aged between 11-18 years old and people who would like to  explore their gender identity or sexuality

If you feel that I can offer emotional support to help with your well-being, please get in touch with me either by phone or email.

I offer an initial free telephone consultation for you to decide whether you feel we will be able to work together.

My private practice is based in Sellindge on the outskirts of Ashford, Kent. I offer face-to-face, telephone and video counselling sessions to meet your needs suits.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
