Please join us in the launch of our Walking and Talking Therapy as part of the Stay Sane Campaign here on the beautiful Hunstanton coastline. Enjoy gentle exercise and beautiful views and the Company of one of our fully qualified and experienced Therapists here at Harley St. Psychotherapy.
We will meet at an agreed point and walk for an hour along the beaches, dunes and gardens of Hunstanton. Nature and exercise go hand in hand with therapy covering all issues concerning your mental health. We will work on your anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, communication and relationships and all aspects which may have arisen due to the current Corona Virus Pandemic. We will be observing all the rules of social distancing so that we can stay safe whilst staying sane during this period and beyond.
Group Walking Therapy
We will be starting Therapeutic Walking Groups of 6.
these walks will be structured and finish with a group discussion. It will be an opportunity for you to meet like minded people who are also struggling in some way. Group Walking reduces the cost of therapy and our initial fee per walk will be £20 per person. We will walk for 1 hour 15-30 minutes at a leisurely pace taking lots of rest and reflection stops. I am a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and counselling Supervisor and worked in private practice in Harley Street, Central London and Wimpole Street. As well as my London practice, I also run a private practice in Kings Lynn and Hunstanton in Norfolk. I developed Harley St Psychotherapy as the demand for good quality highly experienced Psychotherapists in Norfolk was rising. I worked for Mind as a Lead High Intensity Counsellor before starting my own practice. I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling and I am a registered member of (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Having worked as an Employment Support Officer for 16-18 year olds and as a University Counsellor, I am familiar with the pressures that this age group encounter. I have worked extensively with young people to help them gain confidence and motivation and with training or employment. I work with other companies providing Counselling for employees.
I hold counselling, psychotherapy and focusing sessions at my comfortable, quiet consulting rooms in Harley Street and Wimpole Street, London, St. Ann's Street in Kings Lynn, and the coastal town of Hunstanton, Norfolk. The sessions will be for a duration of 50 minutes. Couples sessions maybe slightly longer.
I also offer Skype Counselling which is becoming more and more popular. Perhaps you travel often or cannot get into Central London, or maybe it is difficult for you to fit the travel time into your busy week. Skype sessions are as effective as face to face counselling and quick and easy to set up. I offer a 8 week course of counselling which deals with confidence and low self-esteem issues. Within the eight weeks we will look at how this affects your relationships, social anxiety, general anxiety, shyness, and communication. We will also look at the possible causes and find solutions which suit you so that you can begin to live your life the way you want to, without being restricted by any of these issues.
8 Week Focusing Stress Buster

Focusing is a safe way of being with an experience, even one which is disturbing. It is an ability that most of us have and can develop; a way of listening to our subtle inner feelings. It is a way of accessing what we know but are maybe not aware of; our own kind of truth. When we do this, what we find is often new, surprising, fresh and extremely satisfying and even when we are being with the most terrible feelings in a focusing way, it can actually feel good.
If we are Focusing with a problem or difficulty, it may start to shift by itself in a direction that we haven’t expected. It can provide us with answers/solutions to difficulties. Focusing can be learned so that it can be used in everyday life to help us find an easier way of being with a problem, or even a solution to it. It can be used to help make difficult decisions. It is a useful aid to stress relief and personal development and can help you to feel calmer, happier and generally more at peace.
How I work
I provide one to one focusing sessions where we can either look at a particular issue that is bothering you, or use it as a means of gaining clarity and perspective.
I also provide focusing training so that you can use the technique by yourself, or with a partner, once you have completed your course of sessions.

Focusing Stress Buster
There are more and more instances where stress and/or mental health issues such as depression and anxiety are affecting the workplace. Companies are losing money due to staff sickness when people are signed off with stress or depression. I was aware that this was becoming more and more of an issue, and having experienced inability to work through stress some years before, I wanted to look into a way to reduce stress in the workplace. This resulted in my Masters dissertation: ‘Wellbeing in the Workplace: An investigation into the benefits of using Focusing techniques to address stress and as an aid to personal and professional well-being and development’ (Goss, A. 03/2012).
I carried out a series of weekly focusing sessions with staff and management of a leading mental health organisation. The study concluded that if an individual takes part in regular focusing sessions, their stress levels will lessen.
It also highlighted that focusing was also a form of personal development. Participants in the study reported significant and sometimes life changing insights after a series of focusing sessions. Most participants had no knowledge or experience of focusing or counselling prior to the study, but reported that they found it easy to understand and take part in.

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. PLEASE NOTE: For all appointments a payment in advance is required to reserve your slot. If you agree to continue with therapy after your first appointment the payment for the next session in due in advance to allow us to reserve your slot for the following week.
If you cancel a session with less than 72 hours notice, the full fee will be charged, however it is worth checking to see if there are alternative slots that week.
Like many of us I have had to deal with some difficulties in my life. After many years searching for a fulfilling career in the helping profession, I trained as a Psychotherapist and I love the job that I do, particularly as I have been on the receiving end of therapy and I know that it can be life changing. Lots of us just need someone neutral to talk to who will not judge us and who will have great empathy for what we are going through.
Lots of us need help to come to terms with what we have been through in life and help us find a way to lead a happier and more fulfilled life. Perhaps you have a particular issue or perhaps you are not quite sure yet what is making life difficult for you.
