Amanda Darbon - DipCouns (MBACP) PgDipHRM
I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the professional body that regulates counselling in the UK. I also hold a DBS certificate.
My background in working for organisations across London and Kent has given me a particular understanding of the emotional challenges that many of us face including, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, separation and divorce, relationship and family issues. I believe that evidence based psychological therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) along with an integrative counselling approach allows flexibility in dealing with each individual’s needs. This, combined with a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship is key for the process of change and recovery.
I currently work in the private sector across North Kent and in my voluntary role as a therapist providing counselling support for our Frontline workers. I have worked several years for the well-regarded mental health charity, North Kent MIND and previously enjoyed working with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for employment related matters such as redundancy, returning to work following a long break or bereavement, feeling overwhelmed with life’s demands and many other concerns. I work with adults and can offer long term and short term counselling in most aspects of personal therapy.
I adhere to the BACP ethical framework which includes the regular supervision of my practice. I am passionate about my work and am committed to making a difference to the lives of my clients. I provide a calm, safe and confidential space for you to talk and for us to work together.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
