About me

My own life experiences led me to trying to understand myself, my role in relationships, how I have managed them. Much reading and self search led me to  a desire to help others find themselves in their relationships, to understand themselves, and to train to become a counsellor.

I am interested in helping people who struggle to make sense of life, of their relationships, be it within their families, work, all relationships.

I see clients in West Berkshire and North Hampshire at therapy rooms in the community. Available on Monday, and Wednesday afternoons, and Thursday mornings. Other times would be considered if required. Online sessions  and email counselling are available.

Sessions last 50 minutes, the first session is aimed at assessing your needs and our mutual suitability.

My aim is to help you find your own answers, explore conflicts, choices, in a  safe, confidential, non judgemental space. I will not attempt to advice you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work from an Integrative approach, which means I use different modalities from Humanistic and Psychoanalysis techniques, to fit client's varying needs.

Supervision is an essential requirement to work as a counsellor. We all meet with a more experienced counsellor to discuss our client work in a confidential manner.  The content of the work, the process, will be discussed keeping the client's identity anonymous.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Although requested by the Directory to tick areas in which I work, I would like to say that I see the person as a whole, not a series of symptoms, and what they bring initially often leads to other areas of exploration. My endeavour is to walk the walk with you, and help you find insights and answers within you, support you on your exploration of your issues. I do not provide advice, I offer support in a safe, confidential, warm, non judgemental environment.

If special expertise should be needed, for your particular needs, I would refer you to the appropriate counsellor, therapist or organisation.
