About me

Welcome to barefeet counselling - Individual counselling for Adolescents and Adults.

I am a Gestalt counsellor offering face to face counselling in Lyndhurst in the New Forest, Ringwood, Hampshire and Christchurch, Dorset.

                                                          "And the day came
when the risk to remain tight inside the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
                                                                -   Anais Nin

My philosophy
Some beliefs we hold about ourselves may affect the way we engage with the world, preventing us from living the lives we would choose. I offer one to one counselling within a safe, gentle and non judgemental environment using a holistic approach to look at all parts that make up you as a unique individuals.

How I work
As a Gestalt therapist I believe that each of us have the potential to facilitate change, but at times may need support, encouragement to be curious in order to understand and accept who we are and what we would like from life. Our past is acknowledged, but the focus in on the here and now which means looking at what these past experiences mean to you and how they affect your life today.

I can offer support as we explore and raise awareness of the choices you have made that may have influenced your life, your relationships and how you move through the world. We will work together at a pace that suits you to gently unpick concerns, look at options and the desirability of change.

I offer individual counselling for adults and young people which can be either short or long term depending on your choice. I work in the New Forest and can meet with you at Ringwood, easily accessible from Bournemouth or Poole or Lyndhurst, not far from Southampton and surrounding area. Please have a look at my website, hopefully you will like what you read and it will help you decide if we could work together.

A little about me.
The idea of ‘barefeet’ helps me connect to the image of the carefree and confident child, the idea of living for each moment, being open and receptive to what is happening each moment, a time where anxieties and uncertainties about the future are less developed.

Like many people it is all too easy to get caught up in a hectic and chaotic life leaving little time to think about oneself, but choosing to take this time can be an important and rewarding experience. I try to give myself time outdoors charging my “green batteries” and this can be kayaking, sailing, walking, gardening, and camping – particularly if cooking over campfires can be included!

Indoors, I read, I have a longstanding love of learning, I sew and spend time with my family.  I have a studio where I make pictures using textiles and paint.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications:
BA Hons Psychology
Diploma in Counselling (Gestalt)

My experience:
As well as my private practice, Barefeet Counselling, I work with the Princess Royal Trust for Carers as a counsellor to support those people who care for others in Eastleigh and the New Forest.

I also work for It's Your Choice, counselling young people between 12 and 25 in the New Forest, this includes counselling at Arnwood School in New Milton.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
