About me

I AM CLOSED TO NEW CLIENTS FOR THE TIME BEING

PREVIOUS CLIENTS WANTING FURTHER SESSIONS CAN GET IN TOUCH STILL

I am an experienced and accredited counsellor, based in Carlisle, offering a friendly, confidential and professional counselling service to individual clients and couples. My aim as your counsellor is to provide a non-judgmental, supportive and confidential space in which you can feel accepted and understood.

I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression, relationship issues, self-esteem and confidence issues as well as abuse and trauma. I have worked with over 100 clients in the past year, for individual and couple counselling and I have worked with roughly equal numbers of men and women. I have over 12 years experience as a qualified counsellor. I also have an additional qualification and training in couples counselling and have extensive experience in working with couples

The counselling approach I use is called Person Centred, which means I won't be analysing you or asking you to talk about things you don't want to. Instead I will be working hard to help you gain new understanding and insight into areas of your life that you may be experiencing difficulty with.  This can help in enabling you to find answers, make decisions, or gain some clarity about how you are feeling.

I offer 60 minute appointments at a private therapy room in Warwick Road, in Carlisle City Centre. It is a quiet and confidential counselling room with access to off street parking and free on-street parking nearby.

  • I offer daytime appointments and I also offer evening appointments until 8pm (weekdays only)

I can now accept debit and credit card payments as well as cash.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
