About me

I work with adults who are in need of therapeutic support. I work with a range of issues including clients who have experienced loss and bereavement, illness, domestic violence, panic attacks, depression and low self-esteem.

I specialise in counselling with children and young people aged 4 and upwards. I work both within schools across North Leicestershire, Derbyshire and in private practice in Worthington.

My training and many hours of clinically supervised work have provided me with a wealth of experience and clinical techniques to best meet the needs of each individual child and to develop a meaningful dialogue with a child in ways which promote emotional health, well being and resilience.

I have completed Level 1 training in Theraplay. As part of my toolkit, I use a range of creative media including sand play, art, clay, puppets and storytelling to enable the child to express themselves in a way that is manageable by them. These safe methods help to explore the experiences of trauma, loss and attachment difficulties that many children face.

I work with children with a range of issues including attachment difficulties and loss, stemming from, for example, parental separation, parents in prison and family bereavement. These may or may not be combined with anger, low self-esteem, anxiety, coping with illness, self-harm, bullying, domestic violence and confidence building.

I work closely with parents to help to bring about change, which is often necessary with young children while keeping conversations confidential.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
