Alison Jane Weeks (BA Hons) Counsellor/Psychotherapist Registered MBACP
Counselling can be helpful in finding a way to approach the demands in life that we all face, as well as looking at changes we may need to make. I work humanistically, believing in the uniqueness of every individual to choose their own direction in life and give you the chance to explore your options, working constructively with issues, problems and underlying patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a way that suits you. I work to build a good therapeutic relationship which is non judgemental and open, respecting clients' privacy and confidentiality so if you are feeling vulnerable and uncertain, you can feel safe to share and find new ways of coping.
My areas of expertise are drug and alcohol addiction, depression, stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, abuse, addictions, trauma, bereavement, self-harm, shame, anger and low-self esteem.
I am a member of the BACP, with over 7 years experience of working safely with lots of different people in a wide variety of settings, and offer: one-to-one short and longer-term Counselling as well as Telephone Counselling. I am warm and genuine, down to earth and can offer a creative approach.
I practice privately as an Addictions Counsellor, using psychosocial interventions for clients over the telephone, offering motivation support and encouragement. I also work with family members affected by drug and alcohol users. I work with survivors of sexual abuse offering long term face to face counselling as well as working previously as a School Counsellor with young people using CBT therapy and working as a Bereavement Counsellor. I have also run groups for eating disorders with the NHS as well as working with Carers and people living with Dementia.
I am happy to see people at my location in Chichester or at my practice in Horsham. If travelling is an issue I am able to offer telephone counselling.
