Alison Thompson Psychotherapist and Counsellor UKCP (Accred)
Life can be overwhelming, and there are times when it feels almost impossible to deal with it's struggles. Suffering with anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, depression or a bereavement can contribute to painful experiences that many people find hard to overcome on their own. Psychotherapy and counselling can provide support to explore and understand these experiences and, in time, for you to be able to move on and create the possibility for change.
I also treat those suffering from panic attacks and health anxieties. I provide a confidential supportive and safe place in which to explore your thoughts, feelings, and difficulties, in either short term or long term therapy.
If therapy is new to you and you would like to understand if counselling could be of help, I offer an initial consultation at £65.
I welcome enquiries. Email me by clicking on the link above or leave a telephone message and I will get back to you to arrange an initial consultation. I also offer a 20 minute telephone consultation at no charge.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a professional and fully qualified Psychotherapist, accredited by the UKCP.
I have been in private practice since 2011 and alongside this, I am currently working at a University providing short term counselling to students.
Over the years, I have provided counselling and Psychotherapy to those suffering with depression, anxiety, health anxieties, panic attacks, relationship issues, work stress and general stress, bereavement, eating disorders and thoughts of suicide.
I have worked for CRUSE Bereavement Care as a counsellor in a GP surgery. I have counselled people of all ages who have lost family members, work colleagues and friends. I have also worked with people in their later years of life, in their 70s and 80s, who have lost their spouses after more than 50 years of marriage and I have helped and supported them to live with their sense of their loss.
I have worked as a therapist at WPF Therapy at London Bridge providing time limited therapy and open ended therapy to clients suffering from emotional distress.
I help link past experiences with current problems and to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Through this and the support I provide, you will have the potential to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your life and the ability to consider making different choices. Change can become a possibility. I also offer CBT.
