Person-centred counselling holds firmly to the belief that each of us has the inner resources to develop, grow and change, moving towards living lives that are more satisfying, more meaningful to us. I will use my experience of and training in active listening to fully support you to navigate whatever distress or issue/s have brought you to counselling.
Although my training is in Person-centred Therapy, I do, however, have a broad knowledge of other types of counselling and psychotherapy, and draw on that knowledge when useful to clients.
I generally work with clients for an hour on a weekly basis, and that work can be either long or short-term as agreed between us.
I have experience working with a range of client issues such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, suicide, disability, gender, bereavement and loss.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained in Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy at Strathclyde University, and I hold the COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate.
I also have a M.A. (Hons) In English Literature and Language from Edinburgh University.
As well as working in private practice in Edinburgh, I work as a volunteer counsellor at the P.F. Counselling Service, Edinburgh.
I continue to update and develop my skills and experience by attending regular training courses and workshops.
